On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, 99 fourth-grade students from Kyoto Notre Dame Elementary School participated in a “Forest Delivery Lesson” held at the school’s outdoor learning center (Yamanoie), guided by the Kyoto Forest Instructor Association. The students enjoyed nature observations while exploring the forest with instructors and later participated in an engaging “seed-flying” activity.

Student Feedback:
-
“I learned for the first time that acorns are round so they can roll away and grow in new places to leave descendants.”
-
“I thought all mushrooms were soft, so I was surprised by how hard the Monkey’s Bench (Ganoderma applanatum / Kofuki-sarunokoshitake) was. It really looked like a monkey could sit on it!”
-
“The activity was fun. It was harder than I imagined, but I was so happy when I finally succeeded after the instructor showed me the right technique.”
These “Forest Delivery Lessons” are made possible through the “Green Fund” contributions received from the public. We invite you to continue supporting this initiative to help us provide more environmental education opportunities for children.
