"Forest Delivery Lesson" Held for Children in Ayabe City

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, 22 children from preschoolers to junior high school students living in the Naka-Kanbayashi and Oku-Kanbayashi areas of Ayabe City participated in a “Forest Delivery Lesson.” This event was held as part of the local “Fureai” Community Seminar and was guided by the “Ichishi Satoyama Revitalization Society.”

The day began with a talk about the “Donguri-no-Mori” (Acorn Forest) by the group’s representative. Following the talk, the children enjoyed various forest-themed crafts. They used wood slices to create personalized pendants and photo frames, and used acorns to craft traditional spinning tops and balancing toys (Yajirobe).

Student Feedback:

  • “It was so much fun drawing all sorts of pictures on my wooden pendant.”

  • “I had a small hole drilled into an acorn to make a balancing toy. It was surprisingly difficult to get the balance just right!”

These “Forest Delivery Lessons” are made possible through the “Green Fund” contributions received from the public. We sincerely appreciate your support in helping children connect with and learn from their local forests.
