On Thursday, October 2, 2025, 34 third-grade students from Kyoto City Anshu Elementary School participated in a “Forest Delivery Lesson” at Mt. Anshoji, guided by the Kyoto Forest Instructor Association.

The students climbed Mt. Anshoji in small groups, enjoying nature observation while learning about the forest’s diverse plants and creatures from their instructors. Through hands-on activities, they discovered the unique characteristics of the local flora.

• “I was so happy to learn about so many different living things in the forest.”

• “The ‘Urajiro’ (Diplopterygium glaucum) flying activity was a lot of fun!”

• “I was surprised to find that you can actually write letters on the leaves of the ‘Tarayo’ (Ilex latifolia / Holly) tree.”
