The forest brings us countless blessings. Delicious water, fresh air, beautiful scenery, and delightful plant and animal life. We have learned this through thousands of years of history.
Entering a forest calms our heart. Working up a sweat in a forest is a wonderful feeling. Recently however, the forest hasn’t been cared for sufficiently, causing more of it to grow dark and unhealthy.
Let’s make Kyoto’s forests healthy again. Making the forest healthy makes us healthy too. The Kyoto ModelForest Association is looking for people who want to make the forest healthy.
The Kyoto ModelForest Association was the first group in Japan to promote the Model Forest Movement and was established on November 21, 2006.

Director
Kyoto ModelForest Association
The Kyoto ModelForest Association was the first organization in Japan to launch activities to strengthen the forest based on the Model Forest Movement proposed by Canada. At the time, the official participants in the International Model Forest Network were 18 countries and 39 regions (prior to participation by Kyoto). Kyoto now has officially joined the International Model Forest Network. Participation in the International Model Forest Network will provide international appeal to the activities to strengthen the forests of Kyoto and provide a means for enlarging and expanding the Kyoto ModelForest Movement through the exchange of information with other countries.
Association Profile †
The Kyoto ModelForest Association undertakes a variety of activities to protect and nurture the forests of Kyoto Prefecture with the participation and cooperation of all residents of the prefecture because we all benefit from the blessings from the forest—our common precious asset.
